So I haven't been very dedicated to this here blog. I started it on a whim last year, and haven't kept up. Well, from this point on I am re-dedicating myself. I can't promise I will post every day, but I can do better than one year between posts! Heck, maybe I'll actually tell people I started a blog.

Hunger Games: The Movie
A movie version of Hunger Games is slated to open in 2011. Rumor has that a script is complete.
No casting decisions have been made yet, but I have a suggestion for Peeta. I think that tasty dish, Alex Pettyfer, from Alex Rider and Beastly would do pretty well. He is also in the movie version of I Am Number Four. He could have an entire career by just doing adapations of YA novels.

New Favorite...
Ok, just had Fat Vampire by Adam Rex come in for me. Think it might be my all time favorite bookcover:
Can't wait to read this one.

Totally Judge a Book by Its Cover
I thought I would kick off this blog thing with one of my most favorite things: bookcovers!!

The Space Between Trees by Katie Williams

I don't know where the saying came from "Don't judge a book by its cover" but it could not be more wrong. I totally judge a book by its cover, and I know the teens in my library do the same thing. An interesting cover is justing begging for someone to pick it up, and a dull cover, even with the most exciting story ever, will be passed by.
Here are some of my favorite covers from the last six months (in no particular order):

The Space Between Trees by Katie Williams
I was not super keen on this story. The main character, Evie, is bit immature for sixteen, and she is a liar, but the cover was great. The cover is a cutout with the main title on the page underneath. Love it! And the cover page is a pearly purple which goes well with the tree cutouts.

Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
I loved this cover so much! And I also really liked the modern re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood. Scarlett and Rosie are sisters out to kill the Fenries who killed their grandmother. It fits into the whole werewolf vibe right now, but is a little more classic in the approach. There is nothing warm and fuzzy about the werewolves the March sisters are hunting. Can you find the wolf on the cover?

The Line by Teri Hall
Doesn't this cover look like it would kick off a horror movie? Definitely spooky, but the story is more dystopian than scary. Rachel and her mother live on The Property working for Ms. Moore. Her greenhouse is near the invisible line dividing the country. Rachel has always been curious about The Line, but it is something that is never discussed.
I love how just the greenhouse is lit up. It is a simple cover, but one that grabs attention.

Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender
I was totally spooked by this cover! It doesn't look like much...just a girl sitting behind lacy drapes, but once you start reading, the cover takes on a whole different meaning. Alexis is a social misfit and proud of it. She has always gotten along with her younger sister, Kasey, until Kasey begins acting very strange. Well, being possessed by a demon will do that to a girl!
Alrighty, that is all I have for now. I had a terrible time getting the pictures inserted, but I will post more soon. This does not even scratch the surface of bookcovers I love.
